 As for my thoughts? My little guy loves playing with this egg instrument.  It has a nice loud rattle, but is not so noisy to be annoying.  It is light and easy for him to hold in one hand and shake.  It is nice and smooth, so there are no rough spots to worry about.  It is big enough that my 2 year old can't fit it in his mouth which is important.
